A seventeen-year-old passenger in a BMW, implicated in a high-profile case regarding a tragic car accident, will remain under round-the-clock house arrest for two months. This decision was made by the court, which granted the request of the investigation and the prosecution. This information was reported by "Vідомо," citing the police of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
This means that throughout this period, the young man will be under continuous supervision, unable to leave his residence without special permission. The measure imposed by the court entails a complete restriction of freedom of movement: he is prohibited from leaving his home even for a brief period, except possibly for extremely necessary and strictly controlled circumstances, such as visiting a doctor or lawyer.
In addition to house arrest, several additional restrictions have been placed on him. Specifically, he is required to surrender all identification documents that allow him to exit Ukraine, including his foreign passport.
This is done to eliminate the possibility of fleeing from the investigation.
It is important to note that the court, considering the young age of the suspect, likely took mitigating circumstances into account, although the final decision may be reviewed in the future. The suspect is accused of failing to assist a person in a life-threatening condition (part 3 of Article 136 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). This is a serious offense, with potential penalties being quite severe.
The investigation into the case is ongoing.
