In the city of Kamenskoye, law enforcement agencies have halted the activities of a poacher responsible for significant damage to the fish stocks of the Dnipro Reservoir. The apprehended man, utilizing an illegal fishing method (a net in shallow waters), caught a record amount of fish, valued at nearly 100,000 hryvnias.
The poacher conducted a mass catch of silver crucian carp. As a result of his unlawful actions, 61 specimens were confiscated, weighing a total of 16 kilograms. According to expert estimates, the damage inflicted on the fish stocks of the Dnipro Reservoir amounted to a substantial sum of 96,441 hryvnias.
Following his arrest, an administrative protocol was drawn up against the poacher. He faces a significant fine and other penalties in accordance with current legislation.
It is important to note that the silver crucian carp is a vital component of the Dnipro Reservoir's ecosystem. Its mass capture can lead to serious disruptions in the biobalance, adversely affecting the reproduction of other fish species and causing overall harm to the water body. Therefore, combating poaching is an extremely important task for nature conservation and the preservation of biodiversity.
