According to Forbes analyst David Ax, Russian marines, with the support of North Korean soldiers, have launched an offensive on Ukrainian positions in the Kursk region. This urgency may be linked to the so-called "peace plan" proposed by Donald Trump, which has been covered by Western media.

The crux of the matter is that one of Trump's proposals involves Ukraine and Russia agreeing to a ceasefire that would freeze the current front line, including the Kursk region. In this way, Russia would effectively cede 700 sq. km of Kursk to Ukraine in exchange for approximately 20% of the Ukrainian territory it currently controls. Consequently, Putin is desperately attempting to reclaim the Kursk lands ahead of a potential ceasefire, enlisting, among others, North Korean troops in this effort.

"If Trump's plan actually works – and that's a very big 'if' – Russia would essentially relinquish 270 square miles of its territory in exchange for about 20 percent of Ukraine, which amounts to 45 thousand square miles that it occupies," the analyst explained.

Furthermore, he pointed out that during an attempted attack on Thursday, November 7, the Russian 810th Marine Brigade, along with attached North Korean soldiers, suffered a devastating defeat.

He also emphasized that the Kremlin is prepared to sacrifice hundreds, even thousands, of lives in an effort to eliminate the Kursk offensive. However, this is only advantageous if Trump's "peace plan" is implemented.
