During a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Ukrainian community in Warsaw, the issuance of passports through the State Enterprise "Document" was discussed. In particular, more than 80,000 citizens are awaiting document processing in Poland alone.
Important Decision by the President
Vereshchuk emphasized that the president swiftly addressed this issue. Passports will now be issued not only in Poland but also in other countries where they have been "stuck" due to bureaucratic or technical challenges.
What Caused the Problem?
Since April 23, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine imposed restrictions on the issuance of internal and international passports for men aged 18 to 60 who are outside the country. This was necessary to align regulatory acts with the mobilization law.
At the same time, the issuance of documents was only permitted for citizens returning to Ukraine. These temporary measures led to delays in consular services for many Ukrainians abroad.
What’s Next?
According to the president's decision, all "blocked" passports will now be issued, allowing many Ukrainian citizens to obtain the necessary documents. This will significantly ease the lives of thousands of Ukrainians abroad who faced difficulties during the restrictions.
