The director of one of the city's transport companies, Mikhail Klokun, explained that the maximum fare for buses will be 20 hryvnias, while in the metro and electric transport it will be 10 hryvnias. However, the fare on most routes will remain at 18 hryvnias at least until the end of the heating season.

The increase in fares is primarily due to the rising costs of maintaining and operating public transport. According to transport carriers, expenses for repairs, technical maintenance, and staff salaries have significantly increased.

For instance, the cost of technical work for one bus, which was 4500–7000 hryvnias per month in July 2022, has risen to 10000–15000 hryvnias by December 2024. The increase in prices for spare parts, particularly tires, is linked to the rising euro exchange rate.
