Allegedly, without this, we will definitely not win the war, as Russia has a much larger human resource. Moreover, North Korea has started to assist them in this regard by sending its soldiers. However, it turns out that there is no current discussion about lowering the conscription age for men, and there is a very valid reason for this.
The First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Oleksandr Korniienko, explained Ukraine's position regarding the retention of the current mobilization age while responding to questions from international partners. The official shared this information during an interview on Radio NV.
According to Korniienko, foreign partners have repeatedly expressed interest in the possibility of lowering the age threshold for mobilization in Ukraine. In response to these inquiries, the Vice-Speaker of Parliament emphasized the unique demographic situation in the country.
"We explain that we have a demographic pit", noted Korniienko, referring to the period of high birth rates from 2005 to 2013 and its significant decline thereafter.
The Vice-Speaker stressed that men aged 25 to 60 are a strategically important demographic group for the future reconstruction of Ukraine.
"This is our golden generation, with which we will restore the country, with which we will work", emphasized Korniienko.
This approach takes into account both the current defense needs and the prospects for post-war reconstruction of the state.
