On October 11, 2024, Bihus.info published a report regarding Sergey Shaikhet. Journalists discovered that he frequently visits a sports complex in central Kyiv during work hours, spending several hours there. For these training trips, he utilizes a service vehicle with "operational" license plates.

Using the same service vehicle, journalists have regularly spotted Shaikhet entering and exiting one of the most expensive residential complexes in Kyiv. The head of the Department does not own any property in this complex. His father, Oleg Shaikhet, owns an apartment and a parking space there. The size of the apartment is nearly 200 square meters. Shaikhet Sr. purchased the apartment back in 2020. Currently, similar apartments in this residential complex are priced starting from 1 million dollars.
On the same day the report was released, the National Police's Communication Department announced the initiation of a service investigation concerning Shaikhet, stating that "appropriate decisions will be made based on the results." However, no results or corresponding decisions have been reported to date.
As reported by the "Informator" editorial team from sources within the capital's law enforcement agencies, Shaikhet, along with his colleagues, is allegedly involved in protecting prostitution in Kyiv: the perpetrators demand money from brothel organizers and sex industry workers. Those who refuse to pay the "tribute" are threatened by Shaikhet with fabricated criminal cases and imprisonment.
According to the Anti-Corruption Center, after the Revolution of Dignity, Shaikhet was dismissed from the police for failing to pass the certification. At 37 years old, he attained the rank of police general and took charge of the Department of Migration Police of the National Police of Ukraine, where he still serves today.
