Shaptala, who briefly held the position of head of the Constitutional Court in 2019, retired in September of the same year and began receiving lifelong financial support in October.
Initially, she was granted 90% of a judge's salary as part of her pension, but after legislative changes, her benefits were reduced to 50%. Dissatisfied with the cut, she filed a lawsuit demanding the restoration of her original payments.
Court records revealed that her pension was recalculated based on the increased judge's salary, which amounted to 433,538.60 UAH after January 1, 2020, and 396,206.80 UAH prior to that date.

Following the decision of the Kyiv District Administrative Court chaired by Judge Olesya Chudak, the Pension Fund was instructed to adjust Shaptala's payments in accordance with the revised salary structure.
When comparing pensions without considering lifelong judicial payments, the largest recipient is Sergey Kivalov, who receives nearly 246,000 UAH per month. However, taking into account both standard pensions and monetary supplements for judges, Shaptala remains the wealthiest pensioner in Ukraine.
