A large-scale corruption scheme involving the sale of driver's licenses and the ability to "resolve issues" regarding exam passing has been uncovered in Dnipropetrovsk region. Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs service centers, law enforcement officials, and civilian intermediaries were implicated in the criminal network. This was reported by "Vідомо," citing the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The scheme operated like a well-oiled machine, allowing individuals to obtain driver's licenses for bribes, avoid accountability for traffic violations, and, most outrageously, effectively purchase the right to operate a vehicle, bypassing mandatory exams.
According to preliminary data, the scheme functioned as follows: residents of the region seeking to obtain a driver's license without going through the required procedures turned to civilian intermediaries. These intermediaries, acting as a link between potential clients and corrupt employees of service centers and law enforcement agencies, determined the amount of the bribe based on the complexity of the "order."
One of the detainees—a police officer—has already received an official suspicion of committing a crime. An investigation is underway regarding him and other participants in the scheme to gather evidence of their involvement in criminal activities.
