Vladimir Putin, who has been in power in Russia for a quarter of a century, is once again attempting to call into question the legitimacy of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This statement from the Kremlin leader has sparked a significant response from the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Glavpost, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga emphasized in his address that such statements from Putin serve one purpose — to confuse the international community and discredit Ukrainian democracy.

“While Ukraine has seen three presidents change through honest and transparent elections over the past 25 years, democracy in Russia has long been destroyed. Donald Trump has returned to the White House for a second time, while Putin continues to cling to power through usurpation,” Sibiga stated.

The minister reminded that during Putin's rule, the entire system of democratic institutions in Russia has been dismantled. Independent media has been eradicated, political opponents have either been killed or imprisoned, and election outcomes are predictable in advance.

“Now, a man who has remained in power longer than Stalin dares to discuss legitimacy. This is absurd,” added the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

Sibiga also pointed out the consequences of Russian aggression, stressing that the real question of legitimacy lies with Putin, who turns young men, born during his rule, into victims.

Let us remind you: “There are only a few months left until a ceasefire in Ukraine,” – said the President of Finland about the upcoming negotiations.
