An incorrect temperature or washing machine setting can damage some materials while preserving others.
Always check the care label before washing to determine the type of fabric.
Ukrainians have received tips on washing some of the most common bedding fabrics:
Satin
First wash: use a temperature of up to 40 °C.
Regular wash: a temperature of 60 °C is acceptable.
To maintain bright colors, turn pillowcases and duvet covers inside out. Avoid washing satin with synthetic fabrics.
Poplin
Made from lightweight yet durable cotton, poplin does not shrink or fade.
Before washing: soak in cold water.
Washing: use a delicate cycle at 40 °C.
Cambric
A popular choice for bedding due to its strength and durability.
Washing: use a temperature between 30 °C and 60 °C.
Avoid using fabric softeners and conditioners.
Iron while the fabric is still damp, and iron on the front side.
Linen
White linen: wash at 90 °C.
Colored linen: use 40 °C–60 °C.
Choose a detergent with bleach for white linen and expect to iron these sets after drying.

Silk
This is a delicate fabric, despite being natural.
Washing: always wash at 30 °C with a gel detergent instead of powder.
Spin: avoid using the spin function.
Bamboo
Bamboo fabrics mimic silk in their softness, but they are less slippery and more resistant to wrinkling.
Washing: use 30 °C without bleach or fabric softener.
Tips for washing new bedding:
Always wash new bedding before first use. A quick wash at 30 °C–40 °C with a minimal amount of detergent is sufficient to remove any residues from manufacturing or packaging.
Choosing the right wash setting on the washing machine:
Natural fabrics: use the “cotton” setting for most natural fabrics.
Delicate fabrics: for silk, bamboo, or delicate cotton, select the “delicate” or “hand wash” cycle.
For bedding made from synthetic fibers or blends, choose the “synthetics” setting at a maximum temperature of 40 °C to avoid shrinking and color loss.
Following these simple steps will ensure that your bedding remains soft, vibrant, and in excellent condition for a long time.
