This was announced by the head of the Union of Consumers of Utility Services, Oleg Popenko, in an interview with "News.LIVE".

According to Popenko, the government is actively discussing the possibility of increasing electricity tariffs for the population. The expert predicts that such an increase may begin as early as mid-2025 and is likely to occur in stages to minimize the financial burden on citizens.

The initial adjustment could take place on June 1, 2025, with tariffs potentially rising to 6.32–6.64 UAH per kilowatt-hour. By the end of 2025, prices could increase further, reaching 9–10 UAH per kilowatt-hour, aligning with current market pricing.

Popenko emphasized that electricity prices in the market already exceed 9 UAH per kilowatt-hour, indicating that residential consumers and tenants in apartment buildings may soon face tariffs approaching 10 UAH per kilowatt-hour.

The anticipated rise is primarily driven by the demands of the International Monetary Fund, which insists on aligning electricity and gas prices with market levels as part of Ukraine's commitments to economic reforms.

However, implementing these changes will require legislative adjustments, as there is currently a moratorium preventing the increase of utility tariffs for the population. Despite this restriction, there are speculations that gas prices for households may also rise in 2025, further reflecting the impact of IMF conditions on utility policy.

At present, Ukrainians can enjoy stable electricity tariffs until April 30, 2025, but they should prepare for a gradual price increase starting mid-year as part of the government's phased approach to tariff adjustments.
