“In the Law, we have set a goal to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. We have also defined the architecture of climate governance in Ukraine, financial tools for reaching climate objectives, and considered the goals of state climate policy in post-war recovery programs,” reported Svitlana Grinchuk.

This document addresses:

  • strategic planning and practical steps towards achieving climate neutrality;
  • the cross-sectorality of climate policy;
  • monitoring actions and steps for implementing climate policy;
  • systematic forecasting in the field of climate change;
  • fulfillment of Ukraine’s international obligations.

According to Svitlana Grinchuk, we are now bringing our legislation even closer to that of the European Union. This serves as another argument in the negotiation process, demonstrating that Ukraine is ready to join the EU and meets the conditions for receiving financial assistance under the Ukraine Facility.

“I thank the Chairman of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Natural Resource Management, Oleg Bondarenko, for advocating this document. Thank you to every deputy who cast their vote in favor of this decision. I appreciate the team at the Ministry of Environment and the entire ecological community for their active work on this bill. Today marks a very important turning point, and everything is just beginning,” highlighted Svitlana Grinchuk.
