In nine regions of Ukraine, law enforcement officials have uncovered 13 military officials who illegally disbursed over 13 million hryvnias in payments to servicemen who were not actually present in active combat zones. This was reported by the National Police press service, as conveyed by "Vydomo".
Payments were also made to individuals who had never served or who had deserted their military unit.
For instance, in the Odessa region, the acting assistant commander of a military unit for financial and economic work unlawfully calculated over 545 thousand hryvnias for four individuals who had deserted, while the deputy chief of staff of another military unit received 670 thousand hryvnias based on forged documents.
In the Cherkasy region, the commander of a military unit signed an order for additional payments to 91 servicemen who did not directly participate in combat operations. Consequently, the total amount of unlawfully disbursed funds reached 5,945,000 hryvnias.
A similar situation occurred in the Chernihiv region, where the chief of staff of a military unit awarded additional bonuses to servicemen totaling 412,500 hryvnias.
In the Ternopil region, the commander and the head of a platoon unit calculated and paid over 1 million hryvnias to servicemen who, according to orders, were supposed to be in combat zones, but were actually at their places of residence.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, another suspect is a former regional military commissioner who disbursed over 1 million hryvnias in payments to individuals who were not actually serving.
In the Khmelnytskyi region, the brigade commander paid five servicemen 30 thousand hryvnias each for supposedly participating in combat operations while they were actually repairing his house and that of his relatives. The total amount of damage caused exceeds 1 million hryvnias.
In the Transcarpathian region, a military unit employee misled her superiors about her supposed service in a specific area and received over 250 thousand hryvnias.
In the Lviv region, a battalion commander unlawfully disbursed nearly 370 thousand hryvnias, while in the Rivne region, a company commander calculated 740 thousand hryvnias for military personnel.
In the Luhansk region, law enforcement gathered evidence that led to suspicions against two servicemen for providing false information in official documents. As a result, individuals who did not participate in combat operations received almost 1,200,000 hryvnias in additional payments.
All individuals involved have been notified of their suspicions. Currently, the issue of selecting preventive measures for the suspects is being addressed.
