On the evening of December 1, a horrific car accident occurred in Dnipro, resulting in the death of a 10-year-old girl. Two other girls sustained serious injuries. Sergey Egorov, head of the intensive care unit at the Regional Medical Center for Family Health, shared with a "Vedomosti" correspondent the condition of the injured children.
On Sunday evening, around 9 PM, two victims from the fatal accident were admitted to the medical facility. These are girls aged 13 and 11.
"Currently, the older girl is still in extremely critical condition, and unfortunately, her life remains at risk. She has a severe traumatic brain injury, skull fractures, blunt chest trauma, lung contusion, multiple rib fractures, and a lung laceration. Additionally, there is a subcapsular rupture of the spleen and a severe fracture of the right femur. The girl is in a coma and is connected to a ventilator,” the doctor reported.
There are no recovery forecasts for the injured child yet, as her life remains in jeopardy. Medical staff are doing everything possible to save her.
The younger girl, according to the doctor, is in a more stable condition. She also has a traumatic brain injury and a concussion, multiple soft tissue injuries, and a severe fracture of the right femur. The child is conscious: although she is subdued, she answers questions and her awareness is intact. She is scheduled for surgery regarding the femur fracture and will require a lengthy rehabilitation.
He added that the prognosis for the younger child’s recovery is promising. Both children are in intensive care, and they have already undergone surgeries since their admission.
"These children will be in our hospital for a long time,” noted Sergey Egorov.
The doctor added that the critical period is considered to be up to three days.
"If everything goes well in the first three days, we can start making recovery predictions,” the doctor emphasized.
