Police in Dnipropetrovsk region have apprehended a group of criminals who kidnapped lonely individuals and, in collusion with a private notary, appropriated their real estate. This information was reported by "Vidomo," citing the Main Directorate of the National Police in Dnipropetrovsk region.

On October 23, police arrested three group members and freed a 50-year-old man whom the suspects had illegally detained, subjected to abuse, and coerced into signing a deed of gift for his apartment.

Operatives uncovered the scheme employed by the offenders. They targeted owners of apartments who were solitary individuals and took them out of the city. The victims were held for an extended period like prisoners, beaten, and "intoxicated" with alcohol and drugs until they agreed to transfer ownership rights to their property.

A private notary would then arrive to formalize the deed in the name of a front person, after which the apartment was resold to actual buyers through a sales contract. This scheme had been in operation for the past year and a half.

The number of victims is currently being determined by investigators.

Searches were conducted at the residences of the suspects, resulting in the seizure of mobile phones, memory cards, ownership documents for more than a dozen properties and apartments, keys to these properties, inheritance cases, and other physical evidence that has been included in the criminal case materials.

At present, the suspects are detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation. They have been served notices of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 190 (fraud) and Part 2 of Article 146 (illegal deprivation of liberty), and pre-trial measures have been imposed in the form of detention without the right to bail. The question of serving notices of suspicion to other participants in the criminal case is also being addressed.
