In Kryvyi Rih, two men were sentenced for stealing 15 ducks from someone else's yard.

The court penalized the residents for stealing domestic birds.

Two residents of Kryvyi Rih stole, among other items, 6 ducks and 9 muscovy drakes from someone else's property. This information is reported in the verdict of the Ingulec District Court of Kryvyi Rih, issued in August 2024, according to "Vidomo".

The incident occurred in March 2019: a previously convicted man and an accomplice broke into a private yard. Waiting for nightfall, the men climbed into a storage room and stole birds of the "Muscovy duck" breed: 6 ducks, each 2 years old and weighing 3 kilograms, as well as 9 drakes, also 2 years old and weighing 6 kilograms each.

The birds were taken away in a pre-prepared plastic bag. According to the examination, the value of the six ducks is 1900 hryvnias, while the nine drakes are worth 3750 hryvnias.

Additionally, the thieves stole a 32-liter aluminum canister from the summer kitchen and a road bicycle from the garage. They loaded the canister and the bag with birds onto the bicycle and took all the stolen items away.

The owners incurred losses totaling 6980 hryvnias.

A few months later, the same previously convicted man stole vodka and groceries worth 351 hryvnias from a supermarket.

In court, the men expressed remorse for their actions. They were found guilty of theft committed by a group of individuals in collusion, coupled with breaking and entering into another premises.

The court sentenced the previously convicted man to 4 years of imprisonment, which was commuted to 2 years of probation, while his accomplice received a 3-year prison sentence, also commuted to 2 years of probation.
