A man who killed his neighbor was tried in Nikopol. The tragedy occurred after a joint gathering where alcoholic beverages were consumed. This was reported by "Vідомо" citing the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
The investigation revealed that the victim was at his home when guests—his neighbors—arrived. These included the accused, along with his cohabitant and her parents. The homeowner was offered a drink, which he accepted. During their drinking session, he began to flirt with his neighbor's cohabitant, which, understandably, angered the accused.
To avoid provoking a fight, the guest's cohabitant, along with her parents, took the jealous man away, and they all headed to their own residence. However, after some time and having drunk heavily, the accused returned and sneaked into the house through a window. A verbal altercation escalated into a fight, during which the guest struck the homeowner approximately 20 times with his fists, and then finished him off with an iron.
The victim died from closed chest trauma. The man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The court found the Nikopol resident guilty of the charges under part one of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced him to 10 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
