On Monday, November 4, a hearing took place at the Dnipro Appellate Court regarding the case of National Guard member Artemiy Ryabchuk, who shot five people at the "Yuzhmash" plant in January 2022. The hearing has been postponed for the third time. This information was reported by "Vydomo," referencing "Dnipro Operational".
The private lawyer, with whom Artemiy signed an agreement on September 19, attended the hearing but requested additional time to review the case, as he had not yet been able to do so.
As a result, the presiding judge Alexey Ivanchenko stated that "this appears to be mockery towards the victims and the judges."
According to the new lawyer, he was occupied with other cases. However, after the hearing, Ryabchuk's support group claimed that the defender was unable to access the case materials. The difficulties in preparing for court were also mentioned by the public defender.
Additionally, Artemiy Ryabchuk's name was noted in the exchange lists. However, it remains unclear whether the National Guard member, who served at a restricted facility, will be handed over. Especially since the sentence under which he was sentenced to life imprisonment is classified – it is not publicly available, and information about the decision of the Krasnogvardeysky District Court became known from a publication by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigations in April 2024.
The court approved the petition, thus postponing the case until December 10 to avoid violating the right to defense.
