Officials emphasize that online education falls short of in-person learning both in terms of the quality of knowledge provided and in fostering the personal development of children. Deputy Minister of Education and Science Nadezhda Kuzmicheva explained that distance learning cannot fully meet the educational needs of students or aid them in developing essential social skills.
Kuzmicheva highlighted that prolonged distance learning, particularly for children from internally displaced families, can hinder socialization and emotional well-being. She expressed concern over cases where families, having relocated to safer regions such as Lviv, continue to leave their children in online schooling for extended periods, despite local schools operating in-person.
The Deputy Minister emphasized the importance of attending school to help children integrate into new communities and adapt to changed circumstances. Interaction with peers through regular schooling not only enhances learning but also contributes to emotional stability and social development.
Efforts must be made to raise awareness among families about the benefits of in-person education, Kuzmicheva added. The initiative aims to support children in receiving a well-rounded education and establishing meaningful connections in their new environment.
