В Криворожье водитель грузовика стал виновником смертельного ДТП: вынесен судебный приговор.

The truck driver, having violated overtaking rules at an intersection, caused an accident that resulted in the death of a VAZ driver. He received a court sentence for this. This information is reported in the verdict of the Sofiivskyi District Court of Kryvyi Rih, as stated by "Vydomo".

The incident occurred in June 2024. It is noted that the man was driving a Renault truck on the "Dnipro-Nikolaiv" highway, towing a semi-trailer.

Traveling at a speed of 87 km/h, he overtook at an intersection near the village of Vyshneve in the Kryvyi Rih district, encroaching into the oncoming lane. As a result, he collided with a VAZ car that was moving ahead and was preparing to turn left at the intersection, having already activated the turn signal.

Due to the accident, the VAZ driver sustained severe injuries and passed away in the hospital four days later.

In court, the perpetrator of the accident expressed genuine remorse and condemned his actions. He explained that he had been a truck driver for 45 years, but this was "the first time such a tragedy happened on the road," and he requested not to impose strict punishment, nor to deprive him of his freedom and driving rights, as he relies on this job as his sole source of income.

The deceased's wife confirmed that the driver had fully compensated for both material and moral damages. Therefore, she had no claims against him. The truck driver apologized to her, and she accepted it.

The man was found guilty of violating traffic safety rules, which led to the death of the victim (part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The punishment was set at 4 years of imprisonment without deprivation of driving rights. The prison term was replaced with 2 years of probation.
