A citizen was apprehended in Kryvyi Rih for attempting to evade justice by using someone else's passport. This was reported by "Vydomo" citing the police of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
During one of the raids, patrol officers in the Pokrovsk district of the city stopped a local resident to conduct a routine document check. During this check, it was discovered that the man had presented a counterfeit passport for identification.
A superficial examination of the document did not raise any suspicions among the patrol officers; however, a more thorough inspection revealed clear signs of forgery. In particular, the police noted the discrepancy between the photograph in the passport and the appearance of the man presenting it, as well as some inaccuracies in the document's formatting.
Faced with irrefutable evidence, the man confessed to the crime. He elaborated that he had glued his photo onto someone else's genuine passport in an attempt to avoid liability for a previously initiated criminal case against him.
The police confiscated the passport and sent it for examination. After a detailed analysis of the document, the exact method of forgery will be determined.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident under the article that prescribes penalties for using forged documents.
