Prosecutors from the Office of the Attorney General upheld in the Supreme Court the sentence against a resident of Dnipro, found guilty of intentional murder of one law enforcement officer and attempted murder of another, as well as illegal possession of firearms (Part 2 Article 15, Paragraph 1 Part 2 Article 115, Article 348, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Attorney General, as conveyed by "Vedomo".
Prosecutors demonstrated in all instances that the man committed illegal actions in 2020 while police were performing an operational task to investigate his involvement in a crime.
The convicted individual, under police scrutiny, drew a pistol and shot one of the officers, while also attempting to take the life of his colleague. However, due to a technical malfunction of the weapon, he was unable to carry out his criminal intent to completion.
The Cassation Criminal Court as part of the Supreme Court agreed with the arguments of the prosecution regarding the imposed sentence. The convicted individual will serve a life sentence.
The convict has not acknowledged his guilt. He is currently in a penal institution serving his sentence.
Previously, we reported that the Dnipro Court of Appeal held another hearing in the case of National Guard member Artemiy Ryabchuk, who shot five people at the "Yuzhmash" factory in January 2022.
