Four residents of Dnipropetrovsk were apprehended while attempting to steal at a railway station.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, four suspects were apprehended for stealing transformers from a railway station. This is reported on the website of the Dnieper Railway, as conveyed by "Vidomo".

The incident occurred on October 4 at the Pyatykhatky-Stykova railway station. Four local residents attempted to dismantle relay cabinets and steal throttle transformers both at the station and along the Pyatykhatky – Zheltye Vody stretch.

The total damage from these criminal activities exceeds 450,000 hryvnias.

The issue of seizing the vehicles and other property of the suspects is being addressed to compensate for the losses incurred by the Dnieper Railway.

In early 2024, the paramilitary security forces of the Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih units prevented 53 thefts of cargo and railway property amounting to nearly 837,000 hryvnias and detained 49 offenders, handing them over to the police.

12 thieves were caught in the act of stealing cargo, while 37 were apprehended for stealing property and parts of railway infrastructure. In some instances, the criminals had vehicles with them, which they used to attempt to transport the stolen goods.

All the looters were handed over to the police. Criminal proceedings have been initiated in 15 cases of prevented thefts.
