The court proceedings in Dnipro have concluded for a 36-year-old man accused of attempted murder—he tried to detonate a grenade in a friend's apartment. The motive behind this violent act was revenge against the woman. After reviewing all the gathered evidence, the court found the man guilty and sentenced him to four years in prison. This information was reported by "Vідомо" citing the police of Dnipropetrovsk region.
According to the case materials, the incident took place in early January 2024. Driven by a desire for revenge, the man secretly entered her apartment and left a hand grenade on the windowsill.
Considering that a woman with a small child was present in the apartment at the time of the explosion, the consequences could have been catastrophic. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the explosion caused material damage—specifically, a window in the apartment was broken.
Following the incident, law enforcement officers promptly arrived at the scene. They interviewed witnesses, documented the damages, and seized fragments of the F-1 grenade, which served as significant evidence in court.
During the operational search activities, the police identified the suspect. Investigators and officers from the Novokodak district's criminal police conducted a search at the suspect's residence. As a result of the search, another grenade—RGD-5 with a fuse—was discovered and seized.
The investigators charged the suspect under Part 2 of Article 194 (intentional destruction or damage to property by explosion) and Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court, having carefully examined all the evidence presented, found the 36-year-old man guilty of the charges brought against him.
